Forge Method + Forge Score

A clearer way to build better lacrosse athletes.

Forge turns training into a visible development path. Athletes do not just show up for reps — they learn what to improve, how to train it, and how progress is being tracked.

The Simple Idea

Most players train hard. Forge helps them train with direction.

The Method is the coaching framework. The Score is the feedback system. Together, they give athletes and families a cleaner picture of where the player is now, what matters next, and how training should be prioritized.

01

Forge Method

The training framework. Athletes build skill, decision-making, position habits, movement quality, competitiveness, and coachability through structured sessions.

  • Position-specific lacrosse development
  • Practice habits and accountability
  • Training priorities matched to the athlete
02

Forge Score

The progress profile. The score gives athletes a measurable way to understand growth without reducing development to one vague number.

  • Skill and position progress
  • Training consistency and coachability
  • Clear talking points for families and athletes

How It Works

A premium system should be easy to understand.

Assess

Establish the starting point.

It starts with the Free Player Evaluation — a 30–40 minute assessment of the athlete’s current skill set, role, habits, and competitive goals.

Build

Train what matters most.

Sessions are organized around clear priorities instead of random drills or disconnected reps.

Track

Show progress over time.

The Forge Score helps athletes see development, understand focus areas, and stay accountable.

The Forge Score

Not a ranking. A development profile.

The Forge Score is designed to create clarity. It helps players and families understand progress across the areas that actually shape long-term development.

Built for training conversations, athlete accountability, and smarter development planning.
What families take home: every evaluated athlete receives a written Parent Development Summary — three strengths, two development priorities, and a recommended Forge path.

The Method Has a Resume. Three of Them.

The Forge Method and Forge Score were built by Forge’s founders. Coach Doug Steele is a two-time NCAA All-American and former NCAA Division I Defensive Coordinator with 40+ years developing lacrosse athletes from youth fields to the college level. Coach Brian Silcott is a two-time All-American, national champion, and Fran McCall Award winner who played 11 professional seasons and captained the Boston Cannons for four years, with USA Lacrosse and international coaching experience. Coach Bill Daye is a 1991 NCAA national champion goaltender at North Carolina, the 1996 USCLA Player of the Year, and the 2011 MLL Championship-winning head coach of the Boston Cannons.

Common Questions

Forge Score FAQ

Is the Forge Score a ranking?

No. The Score never compares athletes against each other. It is a development profile that tracks an individual athlete’s progress across skill, IQ, habits, and compete level — so training has direction.

How does my athlete get a Forge Score?

Through the Free Player Evaluation — a 30–40 minute assessment that establishes the athlete’s starting profile and recommended Forge path.

What do families receive after an evaluation?

A written Parent Development Summary: three strengths, two development priorities, and a recommended path into Forge programs.

Does the Score change over time?

Yes — it is a living profile. As athletes train with Forge, progress and new priorities are reflected in ongoing training conversations with coaches and families.
